"Hard Questions Thoughtful People Ask About the Bible..."
   Most people have a sense of respect, if not reverence, for the Bible. It's the basis of three of the world's major religions. It has shaped our nation's thinking as no other book has. Many have found comfort, inspiration, challenge, and hope for better lives through its words.
   Yet, thoughtful people often find the Bible frustrating - even confusing at times. It has been used to justify everything from slavery to mass killings. Popular books sometimes question its integrity. Modern science has raised serious questions about some of its accounts, and some have concluded that science and the Bible are enemies. Even committed Christians sometimes wonder how to make sense of difficult passages.

At Christmas Eve Worship this year, everyone will be asked: What is your hardest question about the Bible?

   Answers to those questions will be the basis for sermons for six Sundays starting January 9.
